Who could have thought that just one guy from Bajuwen village in Odeda area of Ogun State, the initially most underrated one for that matter, could change people's perception about BigBrother Naija in a jiffy? Before the commencement of this year's BBNaija Show, tagged BBNaija Lockdown, some people, especially the morally conscious people, have unrepentant hatred for the show, due to its exposure to obscene scenes like sex, among others.
But Laycon's participation in the show has been an irresistible drive, that make some people, who were once opponents of the popular BBNaija to watch, not just all the house mates, but Laycon's excellent performances.
At the inception of the show, some house mates, including many viewers belittled him, perhaps due to his unattractive look but Olamilekan AgbelesebiOba, popularly known as Laycon from Ogun State proved the popular saying, that "First impression lasts longer" wrong, because his intellectual participations keep setting the judgemental opinion people once held about him ablaze, day by day.
Being a wise, intelligent, humble and talented guy, the Ogun State indigene has won so many battles in the house. He expressed these qualities, the day Erica, his fellow house mate, verbally stabbed him in the front, with so many inhumane and unprintable words. This incident made him command more respect, more supports and more views from people, because it takes wisdom, good home training, as well as strong human understanding, to be insulted in such setting, without an insulting response. This reminds me of one of the good attributes displayed by Governor Dapo Abiodun, against several provocations he suffered in the hand of Amosun, during his electioneering. No wonder Laycon's followers on Instagram moved from 4,000 to over 1 million(1,000,000) in few weeks.
Laycon, a first class graduate of Philosophy from the University of Lagos is not from a wealthy family, but has been breaking grounds, to change the economic level of his family. Prior to his involvement in BBNaija Lockdown Season 5, Laycon has been a rapper, the career he started right from secondary school days. In 2016 after his graduation, he took his musical career to a professional level. Among his most trending songs, was the one he released in 2019, the song that featured some well-known artistes.
The 26year old tremendous achievements so far and his will to win more, set a good fan base for him. Laycon's intellectualism and his reserved, cultured humorous attitude attracted so many celebrities, many Nigerians, as well as many good people of Ogun State and Nigeria at large. And it is the dream of "Icons," Laycon's supporters that their favourite wins the #85,000,000.
Truthfully speaking, Laycon's win will not just make the icons happy, it will also change people's perception about BBNaija, and it will be a celebration of real intellectual prowess.
Being an Ogun indigene, he has further showcased what our State is made of and it is part of the reasons, we are setting the pace across the globe.
In show of appreciation of this great feat, I alongside the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, SF Emmanuel Ojo met with Laycon crew led by his brother, Abayomi AgbelesebiOba and manager, Temi Gomez to show our support and to make them know, that he has become an ambassador of our great State.
I hereby humbly implore everyone to kindly give maximum support to this upcoming giant at this critical stage of the competition, by sending “VOTE Laycon” to 32052.
Thank you all, God bless you.
