APC’s Ganduje Declared Winner of Kano Governorship Election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Umar Abdullahi Ganduje of the APC as the winner of the state governorship election.
Channels report that Umar, the incumbent governor, was declared the winner by the Returning Officer, Bello Shehu, on Sunday after he polled a total of 1,033,695.
Ganduje’s closest rival, Abba Yusuf of the PDP polled 1,024,713 after their votes from the supplementary election were added to that of the March 9 election.
The announcement is coming after several reports of violence in some polling units in the state.
The election was declared inconclusive on March 11 because the difference between the leading candidate and the first runner up was not up to the canceled votes.
Yusuf was leading Ganduje with about 27,000 votes at the time.
PDP has rejected the results.
