Ogun State Govt Also Approves Amotekun Bill

The Ogun State Government said it has approved the draft copy of the bill seeking to establish the Ogun State Security Network Agency, otherwise known as Amotekun.

According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Kunle Somorin, on Wednesday, the Attorney General of the State, Adegbolahan Adeniran, had presented the bill before the council, following its approval by other Attorneys General from Oyo, Lagos, Osun, Ekiti, and the Ondo States.

The bill, which is also known as Amotekun Corp Bill of 2020, is to be forwarded to the Ogun State House of Assembly before the week runs out.

DAILY POST recalls that the launch of the Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Operation Amotekun, generated controversies across the nation as the Attorney General of the federation, Abubakar Malami, declared it illegal.

However, at a meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in Abuja, the South West governors resolved that each of the six southwest states must give legal backing to Amotekun through their respective Houses of Assembly.
