As Nigeria celebrates its 64th Independence Day Anniversary, the member representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, Gboyega Isiaka has called on Nigerians to recommit to the founding ideals of the nation.
In a statement personally signed to mark the independence day celebration, and made available to newsmen, the federal lawmaker identified integrity, industry, empathy, and respect for human dignity, as the building blocks of a prosperous nation.
Isiaka stressed the urgent need to repair the "social, economic, and moral fabric" of the nation, a task he believes can only be achieved through the steadfast upholding of these core principles.
The House Committee Chairman on Student Loans, Scholarships and Higher Education Financing lamented that Nigeria's social, economic, and moral fabric has been eroded over time, but expressed hope that the country can still be redeemed through a collective effort to uphold its founding ideals.
He advocated for a "fresh course" guided by three key pillars: moral revitalization, refined leadership, and an unwavering commitment to national unity, justice, and progress.
He noted that only through a holistic reorientation can Nigeria build a society that is resilient, prosperous, and truly reflective of the limitless potential of its people.
GNI prayed for God's blessings on Nigeria's efforts, expressing hope that the country will rise to the heights of prosperity, justice, and collective dignity that its citizens so ardently desire.
The statement reads in full;
"I join fellow compatriots across Ogun state, and indeed all Nigerians in celebrating our nation's 64th Independence Day Anniversary today.
"Today, more than ever, we are called to rededicate ourselves to the timeless ideals that birthed this great nation - ideals of integrity, industry, empathy, and an uncompromising respect for human dignity.
"These are not mere platitudes, but the very bedrock upon which a thriving, just, and equitable society must be built. It is through the steadfast upholding of these principles that we can begin the vital work of repairing the social, economic, and moral fabric of our nation.
"As we mark this significant milestone, let us seize the opportunity to chart a fresh course, guided by the pillars of moral revitalization, refined leadership, and an unrelenting commitment to the triad of national ideals: unity of purpose, justice for all, and progress for our collective good.
"Only through this holistic reorientation can we hope to build a Nigeria that is resilient, prosperous, and truly reflective of the limitless potential of our people
"May our efforts be blessed and our nation rise to the heights of prosperity, justice, and collective dignity that we all so ardently desire."
Happy Independence Day, Nigeria!
