The Yoruba Afenifere Youth Organization of Nigeria (YAYON) has refuted claims on social media that its National President is kidnapped.
In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Saheed Adeola informed the general public that the only recognized leadership of Afenifere Youths is under the able leadership of Comrade Eric Oluwole as National Leader, and is fully registered.
The statement explained that Comrade Eric Oluwole is a recognized Afenifere youth leader under the main Afenifere Elders parent body in Yoruba land.
Contrary to false reports circulating on social media that One Prince Eniola Ojajuni, Afenifere National Youths Council was kidnapped in Abuja and the kidnappers demanded a ransom of #100, 000, 000, we hereby state that Comrade Eric Oluwole, the National Leader of Afenifere Youths, is safe and sound, he has not been kidnapped.
Comrade Adeola revealed that the youths leadership have received numerous calls and messages inquiring about the safety of our leader, and we wish to assure the public that there is no cause for alarm.
The false report of National Leader of Afenifere Youth's kidnapping is mischievous and aimed at causing unnecessary tension and the group didn't recognize who Prince Ojajuni is as one of the group leadership.
We urged the public to disregard this false information and to rely only on official statements from the Yoruba Afenifere Youths Organization of Nigeria (YAYON) under the leadership of Comrade Eric Oluwole.
We also call on the Nigeria Security Agencies to be vigilant and to take necessary measures to prevent any potential exploitation of this false report.
YAYON Publicity Secretary also urge the Security agencies to be on the lookout for any individuals or groups attempting to use this false report to extort funds from the general public.
The statement also said that, if the news of the kidnapping was true, we (YAYON) implore the police to do everything in their power to ensure the safe release of the impersonator, as no individual deserves to be subjected to such harm.
